Course: Sustainable heating and cooling of buildings
Course Plan
Learning objectives
At the end of this course, the students should be able to:
• Design and dimension low temperature heat emission systems (floor heating, radiant heating etc. pumps, fans)
• Design and dimensioning a high temperature cooling system (radiant surface cooling, chilled beams, etc)
• Select an appropriate heat generation and cooling system (boiler, heat pump, district heating/cooling, solar system, ground heat exchanger)
• Selection of control system
• Design and dimensioning a domestic hot water system
• Calculate yearly energy performance of heating/cooling systems according to EN standards and building simulation programs
• Describe the principles for energy storage
• Get an overall understanding of energy consumption in buildings
